Step 2 Completion of courses with a PRINCE2 Mentor
As a trainee trainer for PRINCE2 the Trainee is expected to:
- act on recommendations of the mentor to up-skill and learn PRINCE2
- make notes as a Trainee (not a Delegate)
- present to the Mentor after the course
- present to the class each day.
The Mentor is expected to:
- provide constructive feedback at the end of each training day
- help to the Trainee to discover his/her presentation style for each topic
- set clear targets and expectations between training sessions
- identify areas of improvement that need to be worked on between training sessions
- maintain momentum and progress towards accreditation.
The Trainee works progressively to present a complete course for the APMG assessment. Each presentation day is structured around a Schedule of Work, Daily Mentor to Trainee feedback form and Trainee to Mentor feedback form. A Trainee Status Report after each course is optional for the Trainee Key Contact.
Once each of the APMG criteria in the Mentor to Trainee feedback form is designated 'Yes” for a 90-100% delivery the Trainee is considered ready for assessment.

Step 3 Assessment by the APM Group
The APMG assessment reviews the Trainee's style and interaction with class members, how the Trainee handles questions from delegates and clearly demonstrates confidence and knowledge of PRINCE2 topics. APMG rules and regulation compliance is also checked. The assessment includes a 90 minute interview about PRINCE2 concepts at a greater depth than students might ask. Most APMG assessments are conditional on further training with an accredited trainer present.
The Assessor then completes an Approval report, and gives a category for the Trainee's assessment
